San Francisco (7-0) travels to face Arizona (3-4-1) on Thursday night and enters the game on quite a roll. The 49ers crushed the Carolina Panthers 51-13 on Sunday and have been plowing through their schedule with one of the league’s best defenses.  Arizona is coming off a 31-9 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Arizona has had no turnovers over the past four games, which is tied for the longest streak in franchise history.

The past three coaches in San Francisco have combined to lose eight straight games against the NFC West rival Cardinals heading into the first meeting of 2019 on Thursday night in Arizona. The Niners’ last win in this rivalry came in Jim Harbaugh’s final game as coach in 2014 when the playoff-bound Cardinals lost a most meaningless Week 17 game in San Francisco.

San Francisco’s defense ranks first in the NFL in yards allowed per game (224.4)   San Francisco ranks fourth in sacks (27.0), is tied for second in interceptions (10) and allows a league-low 224.4 yards per game. However they have faced an incredibly easy slate of opposing offenses, which has made their defense look perhaps more impressive than what it is.

LINE MOVEMENT
The 49ers opened up as 8 ½-point favorites at 5dimes with a total of 44.The Niners‘ have jumped to a 10-point favorite while the total has slipped to 42 ½.

CARDINALS RUNNING GAME

Arizona’s three-game winning streak was built on a balanced offense, with the team leaning on the running back duo of David Johnson and Chase Edmonds. Now both players are injured and the Cardinals have had to adjust in a hurry. With Edmonds (hamstring) out and Johnson (ankle) questionable for Thursday’s game, the Cardinals traded for Kenyan Drake on Monday, giving up a conditional sixth-round pick in 2020.

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Underdogs have cashed six of eight Thursday night tickets this season. However, the favorite has won the last four Thursday contests.7.
