EMAILED ON March 13, 2022

NCAA College Basketball Betting Analysis for March 13th

3:15 p.m. ET: Memphis Tigers (21-9) vs Houston Cougars (28-5)

Spread: Houston -4
Total: 134

The #18 Houston Cougars and the Memphis Tigers play for the AAC Championship. Houston earned a berth in the AAC tournament final game for the fourth consecutive season with a 86-66 win over Tulane. The Tigers earned a spot in the finals with a gritty 70-63 victory over SMU. These teams square off for the 3rd time this season. Memphis won the first meeting in Houston 59-69 and also won the last meeting 75-61 on March 6. Jamal Shead is averaging 9.4 points, six assists and 1.7 steals for the Cougars and Jalen Duren is averaging 12.2 points, eight rebounds, and 2.2 blocks for the Tigers. Memphis will have a tough challenge in trying to beat Houston for the 3rd time this season but they have the talent to pull off a win. Both teams can score and Houston plays better defense but Memphis is shooting the ball better from the field, 3 point range, and the foul line. Given this is a championship game it should be a close one. Memphis should be able to stay within the number and possibly pull off a 3rd upset if they are knocking down threes. The underdog is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.

3:30 p.m. ET: Iowa Hawkeyes (25-9) vs Purdue Boilermakers (27-6)

Spread: Purdue -2.5
Total: 150.5

The #9 Purdue Boilermakers and the #24 Iowa Hawkeyes play for the Big Ten Championship. These teams meet for the 3rd time this season after Purdue won both meetings 77-70 at home and 83-73 in the last matchup on Jan. 28. Isaiah Thompson led Purdue with 18 points, and Kris Murray led Iowa with 23 points. Keep in mind, Keegan Murray did not play in the 1st matchup and barely played in the 2nd matchup and these games were close to the end. Purdue is 3-4 in games decided by less than 4 points. Iowa leads the Big Ten scoring 84.0 points per game while shooting 46.5% and Purdue is scoring 80.7 points per game while shooting 49.7% from the field. Jaden Ivey took a nasty fall on this back after an incredible fast-break layup. How he is feeling today is questionable but you can expect him to be at least a little slower than usual. Iowa has won 11 of its last 13, with the previous 10 by double-digits. Purdue has been winning but their wins have not been pretty as they have struggled in the first 2 games of the tournament. Iowa has been rolling, has more momentum, and should be able to keep it going in this spot.
