Iowa Hawkeyes vs Virginia Cavaliers – College Basketball Prediction

7:00 p.m. ET: Iowa Hawkeyes (6-0) at Virginia Cavaliers (5-2)

Spread: Virginia -2.5
Total: 130

The Hawkeyes are averaging a nation-high 97.2 points per game in Division I. The problem for the Cavaliers is their offense. If East Carolina transfer Jayden Gardner (13.4 points, 8.3 rebounds per game) or Indiana transfer Armaan Franklin (13.0 points per game) is misfiring, Virginia can struggle to score. Iowa’s Murray has been efficient, hitting 62% of his shots from the floor and 89% from the free-throw line. He also leads the Hawkeyes in rebounds with 8.8 per game and blocks with 2.5 per game.  Iowa has wins over Longwood, Kansas City, NC Central, Alabama State, Western Michigan, and Portland State. Teams Iowa has beaten so far this season combine for just a 15-22 record. All of the Hawkeyes’ wins have also been on their home court in Iowa City. Virginia might be able to slow Iowa’s offense, but they aren’t going to stop it completely. Virginia hasn’t won against an opponent that has scored more than 55 points this season. This will be a problem for Virginia again this season with not being able to match their opponents’ offense. Relying on defense to win games is not enough against teams that can score. Take the Hawkeyes in this one.
