George Washington Colonials vs Maryland Terrapins – NCAA College Basketball Prediction

6:30 p.m. ET: George Washington Colonials (1-0) at Maryland Terrapins (1-0)

Spread: Maryland -17.5
Total: 141

The Terrapins come into this game ranked #21 in the preseason polls. The Colonials have 9 players who started their college career at a different Division I school. George Washington has three graduate students and three seniors as well. The Colonials James Bishop, a former player at LSU who is the conference’s top returning scorer (19.1 ppg last season). Ricky Lindo, who played 2 seasons at Maryland, played only seven games for GW last year but the 6-8 forward averaged 11.4 points and 10.7 rebounds. The team looks better for GW this year but they have very little experience playing together and will need time to gel. Maryland has Eric Ayala, last year’s top scorer (15.1 points last season), and a pair of transfers with Graduate point guard Fatts Russell, the all-time steals leader at Rhode Island who averaged 14.7 points, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals last year. Along with Qudus Wahab, a 6-11 center from Georgetown who averaged 12.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. Even though GW looked decent in its first game it was against a bad opponent in St. Francis. The Terps started hot last season and we will probably see a repeat of that until the schedule becomes more difficult. Take Maryland to get a big home win in this one.
