The #6 Butler Bulldogs (14-1, 2-0) are set to play a Big East conference road game against the Providence Friars (10-6, 3-0) at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday at 9 p.m. EST. In their last games out, Butler had an easy victory over Creighton 71-57 while Providence battled for an overtime victory at Marquette by a score of 81-80 on January 7th. With only 2 days of rest and time to prepare, this will be a tough game for the Friars however Providence is looking to get their 5th straight win over Butler at Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Last season Providence beat Butler 3 times by scores of 67-73, 83-70, and 80-57. Providence returns almost their entire lineup from last season.

The Bulldogs have allowed just 50 points per game over their five-game winning streak and defense will be the focus in this game.  This is going to be an intense battle that is going to be low scoring as each of these teams average 68 and 73 points per game but the total is only set at 127.5. This will be a tight low scoring game that is expected to come down to the last possession which will give Providence the best chance to cover and possibly win outright.
